Gisenyi, a city so close to Goma but so vastly different! So open and ready for the Gospel. I am sure that it has something to do with the seed that was sown in the past. Others have sown, and now we are reaping the fruit of their labour. We found open hearts ready and willing to respond to the word of God. The response from the multitudes that came night after night was outstanding. During the call for salvation, it seemed as though every hand shot up to receive Jesus. Many backsliders testified. One said, “I’ve been a thief, but Jesus has saved me today. I will never return to that kind of life”. Another testified, “I was a hemp smoker; now Jesus has saved me and set me free”.
Waves of salvation flooded Gisenye. One moving testimony was that of a lady who wanted to make right after giving her life to Jesus, and so she brought all the stolen property from her house! A sideboard, chests of drawers and a dining room table! She would rather be right with Jesus than have a table to eat on! This is a sure sign that the Gospel has reached her!
The Great East African Revival began in Rwanda, and we have a strong sense that something is stirring once again, and that we will see another great move of God start in Rwanda.
Jesus, abundant in mercy, touched multitudes of sick people. One lady who had undergone several eye surgeries still could not see. Her vision had so deteriorated that she needed someone to lead her around. However, Jesus opened her eyes, and now she sees perfectly, moves around and does her daily chores without any help at all. Another lady had been totally blind for 3 months, and instantly her vision was restored. The blind see! The mad are healed! A young boy, who was out of his mind, came naked to the field after the meeting. The night watchmen prayed for him, and Jesus healed him. The next day, he came fully clothed and in his right mind.
The Organising Committee fully supported us with a genuine desire to see the city reached with the Gospel. One night, the organising committee took great pride in dressing both Shireen and me in the beautiful national costumes.
We are so glad to have had visitors from London at this crusade. Dave Harvey and Paul Tebb were a tremendous help and blessing to us. Please contact us if you too would like to visit an RFM Gospel Crusade in Africa. We love having visitors!
And so it is on to Uvira, which is scheduled for 05-10 August. On Friday, our technical team begins an approximate three-day drive to Uvira, where planning is already going very well with Pastor London and Charlene Harris. Please do pray with us for this city to be impacted with the Gospel. Thank you for all your help and for helping us to do these Gospel meetings.
Yours in Christ Jesus,
Roger & Shireen |
