What a mighty God we serve. Tonight 18,000 people
gathered in Mbandaka Stadium in the heart of Congo’s rainforest to
attend the opening night of the crusade. Jesus saved healed and
delivered thousands. From day one the counsellors were overworked
recording the thousands of decisions for Jesus. There were so many
people queuing to tell their healing testimony that most had wait to
share on another night. My heart is rejoicing tonight as is heaven.
Please continue to pray for us. As I said the closing prayer the heavens
opened and torrential rain came down. It has now stopped but we
desperately need the week to stay dry so people can freely come to the
meetings. I have just stepped off the platform of the crusade. Tonight
the crowd increased to 25,000 people. There were the most outstanding
miracles I have ever seen. 4 blind people were healed. One woman had
been completely blind for 24 years and was instantly healed. We have
never seen miracles like we saw tonight. Deaf ears were opened stomach
pain was healed. So many people wanting to testify. It was like a wave
of healing swept over the crowd. People are coming from 70km away,
coming down the Congo River on dug out canoes as word is spreading what
God is doing. Oh how I wish you could all be here to witness this!!! The
weather was wonderful but please keep praying. In the morning seminar
500 Pastors and Church Leaders were present. One Pastor of a large
Assemblies of God Church in Kinshasa is originally from Mbandaka and has
flown up to see the crusade for himself. He is so moved at what God is
doing in his home town. He told me tonight he has 500 intercessors
praying for Mbandaka.
.Many many testimonies. One soldier who was
deaf in one ear was healed, a man carried into the meeting too weak to
walk stood and was healed, a tree had fallen on a woman’s head causing
eye damage and she said she was now healed. The Pastors came 2 hours
ahead of the start of the morning seminar because they saw the rain was
coming and wanted to get there early.
Holy Spirit Night Tonight we set especially
apart to teach about and pray for the Holy Spirit. 47,000 people
listened and then raised their hands to heaven. It was glorious and
powerful as the Holy Spirit was poured out and people everywhere started
praising God in other tongues. God has held back the rain all week but
not the rain from heaven. It was a sight to behold. Many continued to
testify of healings they have received throughout the week. One woman
with very weak eye sight was completely healed.
Tomorrow is the closing service. The fire of God has started to
burn in Mbandaka and will continue long after we go. The Pastors are
telling us never in the history of Mbandaka have they witnessed things
like this. To God be the glory. What a glorious week we have had and
tonight was another great victory. The crowd grew to 50,000 and were
packed like sardines into Mbandaka stadium. Next door at the hospital a
daughter of one of the Pastors was giving birth but experiencing serious
complications. As she heard the prayer for healing she said “I am having
these babies in Jesus name” and although one was breach they both popped
out healthy and are now named after team members. The attention of the
crowd was wonderful as I spoke about a fully surrendered life to the
Lord and following him all the days of our lives. The people praised and
worshiped God in true Congolese style far into the night. Our sound team
had to switch the sound off so the folk would go home. Tomorrow I speak
to all the Pastors about follow up and the decision cards will be
distributed among the churches for the Pastors to begin their mammoth
task. Thank you for all your prayers during the Mbandaka crusade. We
ended with a great victory and without the tropical rains hampering a
single meeting. The RFM technical team is now transporting our equipment
down the Congo River on a barge. We are expecting them to arrive in
Kinshasa during the next day or so and then take the equipment by road
to Matadi for the next meeting.
On the final Sunday all the team members preached in local churches the
response was overwhelming, new converts flocked to every church. In the
afternoon I spoke and exhorted 100 participating pastors about the
importance of the follow-up work.
The crowd and the response was far too large for the handful of
counselors but they still managed to register 7720 first time decisions.
Each participating church will get between 70 to 100 new converts, a
manageable number for most of them. Although the actual number only the
Lord knows, as the total attendance for the 6 days was over 190,000. |
